Festival season is officially underway across the globe, but unfortunately, it looks like fans of Mac Miller will have to miss out on seeing him perform two separate sets this weekend. The “Hi” rapper has cancelled his performances at both the Sasquatch! Music Festival at the Gorge Amphitheater in George, Wash. on Saturday (May 27), as well as his Soundset 2017 set at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul, Minn. on Sunday (May 28).
The cancellations from Miller come after the bombings that killed 20 people at his girlfriend Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester, England. While it’s not confirmed that he has cancelled directly due to the tragedy to help his girlfriend cope, he did thank fans for being understanding after he backed out of the gigs.
“Soundset and Sasquatch, I will not be performing this weekend. Thank you for understanding. I’ll be back. Love always,” Mac tweeted to fans.
If you recall, the rapper rushed to greet Grande as she exited her plane after coming from the tragedy the following day, and has been by her side since. It’s been a difficult time for the singer, as she has expressed sadness to her fans and followers over the horrible incident.
We’re sure Mac Miller’s fans understand the circumstances surrounding his cancellations, and we know they’ll get another chance to see him perform before the year is up.
