New Microsoft Xbox Elite controller for 2018 leaked – here’s what new features you can expect to see – The Sun

MICROSOFT is working on a new Xbox joypad designed for hardcore gamers.

The news came to light thanks to a series of images depicting a never-before-seen Xbox Elite controller turned up online.

Microsoft is reportedly planning to introduce adjustable tension to the new Elite’s joysticks

The first round of images were posted to China’s hugely popular Baidu social network.

According to the poster, the new version is expected to feature a USB Type C port for charging – just like the new MacBook Pro.

The controller was also tipped to feature Bluetooth support for Windows 10 PCs and three-level hair-trigger locks.

Excitingly, the joysticks also appear to have an adjustable tension mechanism that would let you control how loose or stiff they feel.

The new thumbstick designs were actually described in a patent filed by Microsoft last year

The adjustable design isn’t a huge surprise, mind. Microsoft filed a patent for that exact technology back in December.

Following the Baidu leak, an image was posted to Reddit depicting the entire controller.

The joypad seems to have redesigned palm-holds that look far grippier than current Xbox controller designs.

This is probably in response to Xbox users who have complained about the wearing-down of existing Elite controllers.

Tech site The Verge says a source “familiar with Microsoft’s Xbox plans” has confirmed that the Reddit image is genuine.

However, there’s no word on when this controller will be released, or how much it will cost.

The current Xbox Elite controller costs £119.99, so we’d be surprised if a new model was any cheaper.

As far as a release date goes, the most likely opportunities would be the Games Developer Conference in March or E3 in June.

The Hori Onyx is the first wireless third-party PS4 controller – The Verge

Over the years, there has been a variety of third-party controllers for the PlayStation 4, but until now, all of them have been kept tethered to the console. The latest officially licensed controller — the Hori Onyx Wireless Controller — changes that, however: it’s the first third-party wireless gamepad with Sony’s stamp of approval.

Layout-wise, the Onyx seems to be taking design cues from Microsoft’s Xbox One controllers, rather than Sony’s DualShock 4, borrowing both the asymmetrical stick layout, D-pad, and overall shape of Microsoft’s controllers.

Image: Sony

Unfortunately, like the Xbox One controllers, there doesn’t seem to be a speaker (which the DualShock 4 has). There’s also no lightbar on the back, although if the Onyx works like other third-party PS4 controllers, you’ll still be able to get in-game information via the small LED bar on the front. If you’re a PS4 owner who longs to use an Xbox controller instead of a DualShock and can live with those inconveniences, then the Onyx might be for you.

Like almost all of Sony’s licensed PS4 controllers, the Hori Onyx is only available in Europe, however, with no US release plans yet announced. If history is anything to go by, you’ll probably be able to import one soon, but expect to pay a premium on top of the as-yet unannounced price.

Correction: Updated versions of Microsoft’s Xbox One controller added a headphone jack. This article originally stated that the Xbox controller did not have one.

Microsoft launching Xbox One X in India on January 23 – Windows Central

Xbox One X

The Xbox One X is coming to India, but you’re not going to like the price.

Microsoft has sent out invites to the media for an event on January 23 where the company is expected to launch the Xbox One X in India. The high-end console made its debut back in November featuring a 2.3 GHz octa-core CPU and a Radeon GPU with 40 compute units that can hit six teraflops. The end result is native 4K gaming on a console that’s touted to be the most powerful in the world.

All of that performance comes at a price, with the Xbox One X estimated to retail for ₹44,990 in the country, which comes out to $700. That’s a $200 markup from what the console retails for in the U.S..

On top of that, you’re going to need a decent 4K TV to fully utilize the potential of the Xbox One X, which when combined with the cost of the console can lead to a pretty sizeable investment. In fact, you can build a decent gaming PC for the equivalent of ₹44,990, but if you don’t want to go through the hassle of assembling your own machine or are looking for a console that can handle 4K gaming and HDR, there isn’t a better option available today.

I’ll share more details on availability next week. In the meantime, who’s interested in picking one up?

Microsoft przygotowuje odświeżoną wersję pada Xbox Elite – PCLab.pl

Do sieci wyciekły zdjęcia nowego modelu. Microsoft pracuje nad odświeżoną wersją pada Xbox Elite – donosi The Verge.

Microsoft prepara nova versão do controle Elite do Xbox – Olhar Digital
