Microsoft Releases Accolades Trailer For Xbox One X – Comicbook.com

Xbox One X Accolades

The Xbox One X has been out for just over a month now, and while it’s gotten its fair share of criticism from some people (mainly with its high price tag), there are those that have shown great appreciation for Microsoft’s most powerful console to date.

And now, the publisher is celebrating with the release of a new Accolades trailer that features a number of comments suggesting that it lives up to its name of “world’s most powerful console”.

The commercial may likely be familiar to some fans, as it’s similar to the one that’s been running on airwaves over the past few weeks, featuring Kanye West’s “Power” and footage from a number of first and third-party games that support the console.

You can see the Xbox One X commercial below, and you can pick up your own console at retailers now.

Microsoft surprises a thoughtful 9-year-old who gave up his Xbox to help the homeless – Mashable

In early December, 9-year-old Mikah Frye decided that instead of getting an Xbox One for Christmas, he’d rather use that $300 to donate blankets to the homeless.

Microsoft caught wind of Frye’s generosity, Fox 8 reported Saturday, and decided to set up a surprise for him: a limited edition Minecraft-themed Xbox One X from none other than Santa himself.

Frye first decided to give up his own present as a charitable gesture when he saw homeless people outside in the cold around Ashland County, Ohio, when he was with his grandma, Fox 8 reported on Dec. 6. Instead of spending $300 on a console, he could get 60 blankets and donate them to the Ashland Church Community Emergency Shelter Services (a.k.a. Access).

Just three years earlier, Frye and his parents were benefiting from the services provided by Access.

“It was about three years ago, we hit some financial problems, me and my husband and Mikah we ended up losing our home,” Frye’s mother Sara Brown said. “We stayed there for just a few weeks until we found a new place to live.”

Frye’s grandmother, Terry Brant, added: “He knew what it was like to not have a blanket at night and have to give it back … So the first thing he wanted to do is give a blanket that they could keep.”

Each of Frye’s blankets given to people in need includes a handwritten note: “They gave me a blanket, but I had to leave it. That’s why I want you to have your own blanket … Today, I live in my own house, and someday you will too. Your friend Mikah.”

At the Beachwood Place Mall in Ohio on Saturday, Frye’s kindness paid off. In a tearful moment, mall employees surprised him with a bag of gifts, including the Xbox One console.

Microsoft surprises boy who gave up Xbox to donate blankets – fox8.com

BEACHWOOD, OHIO – It’s a lesson in giving that will last a lifetime. In an often self-centered world an Ashland 9-year-old gave up a big-ticket Christmas gift to pay it forward to people he saw wandering in the cold.

Mikah Frye’s actions not only caught the attention of those who received his donation but also the eye of a billion dollar company who planned a big surprise at Beachwood Place Saturday in his honor.

“When they called and told me I was just instantly crying on the phone and I couldn’t believe it,” said Mikah’s grandmother Terry Brant recalling when she learned about the surprise. “What’s harder was not telling him.”

Fox 8 first introduced you to Mikah’s family earlier this month when he decided to give up an Xbox in exchange for purchasing more than sixty blankets for the less fortunate. Since then Microsoft got wind of Mikah’s selflessness and wanted to repay his kindness.

Employees led him to the back of the store where Santa was waiting to help present two big bags full of gifts, including an Xbox. After combing through all the items Mikah began to cry, along with family members reflecting on their good fortune and obstacles they have overcome.

“He knew what it was like to not have a blanket at night and have to give it back,” said a tearful Brant. “So the first thing he wanted to do is give a blanket that they could keep.”

Brant says Mikah’s parents fell on hard times a few years ago and lost their home. They stayed at an emergency shelter for several weeks before finding another place to stay.

“Not only will they have a nice warm blanket that they get to keep, everybody will get a blanket, but they’re wrapped in Christ’s love as well as Mikah’s love,” said Cathy Thiemens, the executive director of the Ashland Church Community Emergency Shelter Services during an interview earlier this month.

Now the same shelter that helped Mikah’s family is distributing his donated blankets with a special note from him attached to each one.

“It’s just amazing, it’s a blessing, Mikah is a blessing to our family and we thank you very much,” said Brant.

Xbox Mixer Service Launches Mobile App – Cinema Blend

Microsoft is making a big push into the streaming space, trying to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Twitch and YouTube. The service is reportedly a smooth experience, and now that the app is available, there aren’t a heck of a lot of things the competition offers that Mixer doesn’t as well. As an added bonus, Microsoft is making sure it’s in front of a big audience by making the service standard on both the PC and Xbox One front.
